In continuation of my partially slanted, incomplete task of describing the NYC Food Film Festival a couple of weeks ago on this blog, last weekend I did my homework and got the scoop on the first-ever fest for The Reeler.

The second weekend of the festival takes off tonight, with a lineup that includes Grace Lee’s short doc on currywurst, Best of the Wurst, and a hot dog eating contest. I happen to have a bad childhood memory involving an eating contest, so I’m not sure if tonight is quite my thing. But even though I managed to not eat cheeseburgers, chile, sausages, hamburgers, or anything besides beer while I was there last weekend, I still had a good time and would recommend the festival to anyone who’s interested in all the things above, and films about them. Let’s see if food & film festivals become a new tradition.

Check out my story at The Reeler.

Hey Cathy, I stumbled upon this food film festival last Saturday… The highlight for me was meeting Miss Asparagus USA! Keep up the great work.

    Howdy,

I am visiting NYC from Virginia in late July and was wondering what kind of cheap/free “not eating out” kinds of things there are to do (Hells Kitchen Flea Market, film festivals, other such things) that might be less well known. Any direction would be great! Thanks,

    Sarah

Howdy Sarah! If you like film festivals, by all means pack a picnic and bring it an outdoor classic film screening like the Bryant Park HBO film festival, Movies with a View (overlooking Manhattan in a beautiful park in DUMBO, Brooklyn), or if you like independent films and maybe partying afterwards, check out Rooftop Films. For free music in the park, there’s Central Park Summer Stage, and a great free lineup this summer at Celebrate Brooklyn! in Prospect Park. Hope you enjoy!

Sonic Drive is a modern popular American restaurant offering thousands of veg and nonveg fast food items. When coming to a food festival, its a treat to have with my friend’s group on the sonic drive. Free drinks are the main prize for the TalktoSonic Guest feedback survey, which is happening on the official portal of sonic.

NYC food film festival is of the great events in the New York city. Due to covi-19 NYC food film festivals got cancelled this year but the subway restaurant is conducting the food festival with the regular customers. In this event they are conducting the online customer satisfaction survey called global.subway survey and the customers have to participate in the survey and the lucky winners got the cookies & fountain drink for free. Try your luck & thank me late. 🙂
