Most of your local pizza shops will sell you dough if you don't want to go through the hassle of making it yourself. For $1.50 it's still pretty cheap and certainly fresh.

This looks great! I have been experimenting with doughs a lot though and haven't found one I love... I know this is cheating but I would love to find a great whole wheat crust you can buy at a grocery store. If you know of any, please share! Love your posts!

grilling a pizza is an act of culinary bravery. after all the craft of making the dough and the sauce, grilling certainly courts disaster. this might be just the push i need to give it a try. thank you!

If your grill is large enough, say as in a large weber
try adding six bricks to the grill rack, allow them
to heat up for fifteen minutes or so with the grill cover
on, Then uncover the grill and slide the pizza directly
onto the brick surface, put the cover back on and cook the pizza. Works!

Cathy, you actually can place the pizza dough right on the grill racks - just don't add the sauce and toppings just yet. Just oil the stretched dough and grill for 2 or 3 minutes over medium heat. Flip over, add the toppings (sauce, cheese, etc) and cook with the lid down for another 4 or 5 minutes (just make sure the coals aren't too hot). It takes a little skill to get it just right, but the results are well worth it as the crispy grilled top and bottom really add to the flavor. Try it with pesto and goat cheese, adding cooked sausage too if you'd like. Or just email me and I'll come over and show you how :-)

I'm in love with the idea of pecorino fresco. Gonna have to head out to Union Square this week and pick some up!

Hello! I clicked over from your recent article in the L Magazine; I literally couldn't put it down. Your blog is just as exciting. I love eating, I love New York, but I also love cooking and saving cash. I will be back. And the pizza looks amazing!
