Cathy: Thank you for posting my recipe and fixing my various typographical errors and lack of spelling and punctuation.

SP: My sincerest apologies. In my experience with both making Risotto and of other Risotto recipes 1 lb of rice yields four servings, no more and 1 lb of shrimp means about 3 shrimp per person, one gets more than that in a shrimp cocktail. Further I imagine the confusion that you seem to have in regards to the recipe is that I state "Follow a standard risotto recipe for the rest." Now as Risotto is "one of the most common ways of cooking rice in Italy"* and follows a very well documented method of preparation it seemed that simply stating to cook it like you would cook any other Risotto the recipe would seem less erudite and less cluttered and thus more readable. This is similar to instructing a cake baker to follow the "creaming method". If you are unable to find a suitably basic Risotto cooking method I'd direct you to follow the reference to the wikipedia article where you will likely be able to make this recipe almost just as I did, but with your own unique flare or perhaps lack there of. If you still have trouble understanding the recipe I will gladly walk you through it step by step.

Cheers
Noah B

So the functionality of the recipe is discarded? What's the point then? Is it meant to be read as literary prose?

Cecily: I know, that was part of the "challenge" aspect of the RC! But I'd say they turned out great despite the sit, and many chefs added more stock and kept stirring as time went by at the event.
SP: I don't edit guest recipes heavily, for the sake of preserving the author's unique voice, which I think is more fun than preserving recipe-writing standards sometimes.

This is one of the least helpful and most poorly written recipes I think I've ever read. And, with one pound of rice and one pound of shrimp, this would make enough risotto to easily feed about 10 people.
