I bought some fresh sun-dried tomatoes for the first time and needed a recipe. Your site was the first I looked at and I just made this pesto. It's great. Had no shallots-used red onion, no pine nuts- just left them out. Thanks for the great idea.

What a great post! I love how you have broken down The Cost of Eating Out vs. the cost of making food. The Cost Calculator was awesome! Great information!

I found your blog recently and I'm really enjoying it! Love the addition of the health and green factors.

I love sun-dried tomato pesto, and your addition of lemon zest and balsamic vinegar make this one look extra special.

Ooh, looks like tonight's insomnia is paying off, since I get a new recipe! ;) I love love love the idea of stirring some pesto into a rice pilaf - I usually only cook rice if I'm making something saucy to pile on top, because otherwise I find rice kind of dry, but maybe a dollop of pesto is all I need.

Last year, when ramps were in season, I made a ramp & sundried tomato pesto (blanching the ramps first) that was SO GOOD, I can't wait to try again this year. It was a little on the sweet side so I might borrow your idea to add a little balsamic vinegar.
