I won prettiest pie. Thanks for the shout out. It was my first time in the competition and I most enjoyed talking to everyone about their recipes and approaches. Unfortunately I was not able to get a taste of your brown butter and sage, alas it was gone by the time I got there!

Wow--that pie sounds really great! I love pies that aren't overly sweet.

This was actually the 6th apple pie bake-off. 6 years ago, a group of us (that included the owners of Enid's) went apple picking upstate. We came back with so many apples, we decided a bake-off would be fun. So we did it and it has been so much fun that we've kept doing it.

Oh good lord woman! Will you ever cease to amaze me? After a long weekend of eating and drinking (and a Monday of coming back to my senses), I "officially" am eating healthy as of today. Except I'm going to have to make this pie over the weekend! This looks so dang good, my mouth is totally watering.

Thanks, as always, for the inspiration.

good times and congratulations again! your pie was divine and inspired, as usual.

i actually came in 3rd last year, not 2nd, so i guess i'm moving up (although i'll always look like a maniac in cookoff victory photos). i still can't believe there were 40+ pies! my only regret is not at least trying any of the bacon apple pies. and truffle salt?! what's that???

Congrats! I never would have thought about sage in an apple pie. I'm sure you will be having requests for this to make a reappearance on turkey day!
