The casserole party looks like a brilliant idea. I might just have to try that kind of thing around here. Also, while I agree many other cultures have similar types of dishes, it's the American approach to it that makes this such a Distinctly American Food . It's the idea of taking anything at all and creating a one dish wonder, so to speak. Our casseroles tend to be completely free of rules, adding just about anything you can imagine together. I'd love to discuss topics like this further on my forum at distinctlyamericanfood.vze.com . Bring a casserole and we'll make it a party.

I met emily a while back and have ordered her book ( from the Community Bookstore in Park Slope ) yeah.

i love casseroles, and i think, considering the recent downturn, that more people will be cookig comfort foods, eating out less.

Whats not to like about mom's tuna casserole with potato chips crunched over the top.?

I will very likely be purchasing this book- I completely agree with Emily that there is something synergistically wonderful and comforting about a good casserole.

I heart Emily Farris in such a major way and am looking forward to trying something from her new cookbook on an upcoming chilly evening. Isn't she cute as a button?
